From the ancient temples of Ggantija, which at more than 5500 years old are the world's oldest freestanding structures and the world's oldest religious structures, even pre-dating the Pyramids of Egypt and Stonehenge, to the spectacular Citadel sitting high above the capital Victoria, or Rabat given it's original name.
Contained within it's mighty walls are the magnificent St. Marys Cathedral, the Court house, the Old Prison, along with several interesting museums. From it's towering ramparts views of vitually the whole Island can be seen.
Take a leisurly stroll through the narrow winding streets of the old town to witness the fine architecture, and don't forget to smile, for the warm 'Gozitan Smile' that is returned is an inevitability. Then relax and enjoy a leisurly chat over a drink in the towns main square at one of several pavement cafe's to watch the world go by, because that is what the locals do, it is so typical and 'Oh So Gozo!'
